Reason debuts new single “Ngiyakuthanda”

Reason’s latest single, “Ngiyak’thanda,” is a song about love; the love for romantic partners, life, and everything in between.

“Ngiyak’thanda,” is the first official release from Reason after the success of his 2018 album, Azania. Gearing up for an EP release in the last quarter of 2019, Reason reminds his fans why they love him by sharing how he loves others.

Where Azania was about the influences around him at the time of its production, Reason shares that he wants his upcoming EP to showcase what is inside of him.

As he gets into the swing of things, the rapper has shared a video of his recording session for “Ngiyak’thanda.” He explained in a social media post that the intention he and Zee (industry-celebrated photographer) had was to shoot a music video for “420 #Ntp.” The activity failed, however, what happened next was the production of “Ngiyak’thanda” instead! “What came of it was a declaration of love for my family, my friends, my life & all things that keep my heart beating,” Reason further explains.

How will the sonic direction of your upcoming EP differ from that of ‘Azania’?

“The sound is much younger. However, the content is much older. Azania was about bringing light to what was around me at that time. This EP is about bringing light to what is inside me.”

What inspired the lyrics when you were working on this single? Why?
“Love inspired it. The people I love, the things I love, and all things/people that love me back. I also dabble into things I like or hate too because sometimes we can never tell the difference. The point was to find common ground with people like me that are happy to express their love of similar ideas/things. In essence, we all (kinda) love money, good times, looking good, life and ourselves. This one is for those who can relate.”
