R&B sensation Nanette releases her long awaited EP The Waiting Room, marking her first project since her 2022 debut LP Bad Weather. The SAMA nominated songstress has undergone a shift in her music career, which saw her slow her roll a little and embrace a more patient strategy when it came to her output. Revealing more on this, she says, “I felt like I was rushing everything. This EP is about understanding the value of waiting, and embracing those moments when life asks you to slow down”. As such, this EP represents and embodies that state of mind.
With a runtime of a little over 30 minutes, The Waiting Room is a concise 7-track project that showcases all of Nanette’s vocal capabilities in which she experiments with different sounds. Her R&B roots are intact on the luscious and sensual “Tonight”, which served as the EP’s lead single, featuring rap royalty Nasty C as well as the talented sought after singer, rapper and producer Tellaman. Nanette speaks highly of the song, sharing that “I’ve been playing “Tonight” everyday since we recorded it. It’s a special song, and I can’t wait for my fans to fall in love with it as much as I have.” Three previous singles in the form of “Talk 2 Me” featuring Blxckie, “Move With Me” and “Kuyoze” featuring Zwayetoven & Stacy form part of the EP, with three other never heard before cuts.
From traditional to contemporary R&B, all the way to private school amapiano, Nanette is bold in her musical choices and she puts her best foot forward with each attempt. The Waiting Room is a considered approach that illustrates the breadth of her musicality. Her fans will surely enjoy it, with the hope that a full length project is on the horizon.
