I’ve been a fan of the work since I first heard “Swerve.” Ricky Tyler was fairly unknown then but the sweetness and clarity of his vocals drew me in to the 2017 release. He went on to do a remix with Tshego and has dropped a few singles since.
Signed to Universal Music now, the label has put a bit more muscle behind the East Rand muso’s releases. The first one up is “Thirty K’s” and he’s released a video for it today as well. Of the track, Ricky says “I named the song Thirty K’s because that’s the distance she always travelled to come see me when I was going through a lot in my life. She always took the focus off herself and now I want to put the focus on her and say thank you.”
