DBN Gogo continues to make strides in the industry and this time, she has just launched her independent record label, Zikode Records, in collaboration with UMG Africa. As part of the introduction of this new endeavour, she has also released the first single released under the label, “Bambelela”, featuring Amapiano’s young crop of Pabi Cooper, Felo Le Tee and Young Stunna.
With the album artwork paying homage to Death Row Records’ 1996 Vibe Magazine cover, it seems Gogo is putting everyone on notice about her intentions with not only the single, but also the record label.
Speaking about how the song came about, she reveals that the mid-tempo, contemporary amapiano summer track was originally meant to be female anthem, featuring only Pabi Cooper. However, “Dipatje” hitmaker Felo also wanted to be part of the song, with the addition of Young Stunna coming in later. “Bambelela” is steadily going viral on the popular social media platform Tik Tok, with a signature dance move to boot. https://www.tiktok.com/@nokuthula_prettynox/video/7045263290351586562
