Starting his verse with a reflective stream of consciousness style opening, Frank Casino raps “Long life, gotta move with ease, 5 in the morning drive through at Mickey Ds, the sun is in the sky, this is how I lose sleep, jersey no. 10 for the team, in a different league, yeses – damn it’s been crazy, time is moving fast and I’m aging, but I can’t complain, it’s amazing, shout out to the babies, you’re the reason why these guys hate me…” on his new single “Long Life”. Returning after a long hiatus, which saw him not releasing a single since 2021’s “Forever” alongside the late Riky Rick, Frank Casino sounds like he has been doing a lot of reflecting and is attuned to a more introspective alignment this time around.
He taps pH Raw X who provides a poetic hook. The super producer, rapper and singer delivers in a distinct reggaeton-inspired manner, singing,“I live my life in a distance, I do not trust television, let me just start from beginning, it’s gon’ be alright if you listen, boss life I trust in thee Higher Power, conquer the heights that we gon discover, Big Man gon’ chase it, we cannot cower, Rasta no die till we get the flower…”, with singer Thando Zide who chants soulfully throughout the song.
“Long Life” is an interesting song for a rapper of Frank Casino’s reputation to release as the first single for a full length project. Given his usual vibe of anthemic hit-singles with thumping 808s, this is a departure that could potentially signal growth. Considering that he’s stayed away from the public eye for a while, and has not released music in as long a time, this makes for exciting anticipation for his upcoming album, which will be his first since 2018’s Something From Me.
