Kevin Hart is in South Africa. The superstar comedian and actor is touring his Reality Check show, and has four shows lined up in the country, this first of which is in Cape Town tonight. The other three are scheduled for Pretoria’s Sunbet Arena on the 17th, 18, and 19th of February.
Also on the agenda for the comedian is giving the keynote address at Advertising Week Africa, to be hosted tomorrow morning. Founded by Kevin Hart, Hartbeat is the global, multi-platform media company creating entertainment at the intersection of comedy and culture with a mission to keep the world laughing together.
In November, Hartbeat announced that they had partnered with Advertising Week for a programming track at AWAfrica curated by the media company. As its founder, Kevin Hart will keynote a session tomorrow at Advertising Week Africa sharing his core principles for working with advertisers and how companies can build purpose-driven brands that breakthrough with storytelling harnessing humour and heart.
“Branding with Hart” will feature a series of conversations with key industry icons, influential marketers and tastemakers on the state of entertainment, diversity and storytelling across the African diaspora, and why brands need to lean in with greater urgency to be relevant, available, and inspiring.
Later that evening, Amazon Prime will be hosting a premiere of Kevin’s Die Hart movie. It’s a satirical action comedy that sees Hart playing a fictionalised version of himself, as he sets out to pivot away from being pigeon-holed as a comedy wingman to being taken seriously as an action movie star. Kevin Hart attends ‘action hero school’ run by Ron Wilcox, played by John Travolta, where he attempts to learn the ropes on how to become one of the industry’s most coveted action stars.
It hasn’t been confirmed if the star will be in attendance, but it does seem like a coincidental screening, which means he likely will be. The movie Die Hart will be available to Prime Video members in South Africa and worldwide on 24th February 2023 and in cinemas in South Africa from 22nd February 2023.
