The Lion King’s live action 2019 remake releases in cinemas today. Along with the release of the movie is the soundtrack which was exec-produced by Beyoncé.
In an interview with Good Morning America, she said “This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa, I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa and not just use some of the sounds and do my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa.”
Fittingly, she enlisted a host of Africa’s finest artists to contribute to the project. The list of credits is a long one, and included in the names of the contributors are Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Wizkid, Tekno, Shatta Wale, and Mr. Eazi.
Many congratulations to our home-grown talent Moonchild Sanelly, Busiswa, DJ Lag, Anatii, and Bubele Booi for making their contribution to one of the biggest projects out this year. Keep flying the SA flag high!
