PUMA surprises with a new capsule collection in partnership with the founder and Creative Director of R H U D E, Rhuigi Villaseñor.
With its timeless design, the classic PUMA Suede has captivated millions of people throughout the years. Now, Rhuigi Villaseñor has put his own spin on this beloved classic with a Suede Mid (R2 999) version, offering a hairy suede upper with leather details and overlays, in a darker colourway.
“The Suede, in my eyes, is probably the most iconic silhouette of the brand. It has been an honor to work on a classic,” says Rhuigi Villaseñor. “The Suede has been re-iterated and used as a reference for many other brands but also it has withstood time and trend and proves to be a lasting classic. It is exactly what people want to dress in now.”
The drop also features a curated selection of elevated apparel pieces, including the Rhuigi Track Jacket (R1 599), Track Pant (R1 599), Tee (R899), Long Sleeve Tee (R1 199), Top (R1 699) and Short (R1 199). All designs include a washed look in neutral colours and Rhuigi’s signature aesthetic incorporated throughout.
“I use my personal stories and things that feel most honest and closest to me when I design and implement PUMA’s classic details. For All Time means sustainability because nothing is more sustainable than a product that you don’t want to get rid of. Time makes a design a classic.” adds Villaseñor
Rhuigi Villaseñor founded R H U D E in 2015 with the vision to create designs that are a cross of effortless, minimalistic styles and streetwear. The brand aims to rebel against a disciplined environment by creating clothes that express raw experiences.
The PUMA x Rhuigi capsule collection will be available from PUMA.com, PUMA Braamfontein, PUMA Sandton, PUMA V&A Waterfront and PUMA Gateway from 2 July 2021.
