Pretoria based rapper Tyson Sybateli has released a new song called “Strike a Pose” produced by Melange and Feziekk. In usual Tyson fashion, the song is a breezy groove that finds the Umlazi born rapper flexing and gloating about his prowess when it comes to getting the bag and bagging ladies.
He cleverly interpolates Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up”, rapping “Remember when I was a cashier, for cash yeah, now I never have a bad year, a bad year, hlupheka that was last year, I’m glad yeah, Supa Mega I’m the man here, I demand here, we be living for the bag yeah, the bag yeah, everybody and the fam here, the fam here, need a golden medallion, medallion, now we know who been acting, lights flashing…” while also finding the time to big up the departed Supa Mega.
Tyson has been enjoying the lights, camera and action since he came into the fore with his critically acclaimed album HOME, which was released in 2022. While he had released a few projects prior, it is HOME that established him as a known, formidable MC in the game. Since then, his stock has been steadily rising, marked by notable features and further acclaimed projects such as 2023’s Present mixtape.
“Strike a Pose” is his first solo single in a year he appeared as a featured artist on songs such as Priddy Ugly’s “So Disrespectful”, Ricky Tyler’s “No More Discos” and MashBeatz and Wordz’ “JOY”.
