The visuals of the amapiano and hip hop hybrid song “Sho Boy” have been released and few videos are as fresh and crisp as the star-studded song by Venom and Shishiliza. Featuring Riky Rick, Junior Taurus, Buzzi Lee, Yanga Chief, Beast RSA, Focalistic, Blxckie & 25K, the video opens with an aerial shot of Atteridgeville, and we’re taken on a ride to explore the west Pretoria township that’s home to many talented artists in the scene today. Pretty ladies adorn the streets in what looks to be a beautiful and sunny day, with one taking a bite out of a kota.
The Nate Thomas directed video basically shows how the crew chills in the streets, as they are all mostly posted up on the wall before Buzzi Lee sets the song off, rapping a solid verse in her discernible Pitori dialect. The location then moves to a rooftop where Yanga Chief delivers his verse, dressed in all black – him and his compatriots. This is the first shot we see of the late Ricky Rick, who kicks it with a few others behind Yanga as the latter does his thing. Pheli’s representative, 25K, is also in the cut along with Venom and Shishiliza.
Focalistic is next up with his scenes deep in the kasi, where he kicks his verse minted in a bucket hat and adidas sweater. Blxckie follows and his part is shot at night. The KZN wonderkid delivers his verse surrounded by a number of women in one shot and sitting on the bonnet of a parked car in some scenes. 25K closes it off, rapping in the same locations as Blxckie.
“Sho Boy” is Pretoria based hip hop DJ, Venom and ShiShiliza (aka BashVision)’s first single, released on 10 December 2021 off their upcoming collaborative project. They also released the much loved “Sondela” this past Valentine’s Day. The project will reportedly be entirely produced by 021’s producer Junior Taurus.
Speaking about “Sho Boy” and how the collaboration came about, Shishiliza explains that, “About a year and a half ago I had worked with Venom on one of his previous singles. We decided to come together just to do one song, we ended up collaborating on multiple tracks that ultimately led us to work on a collaborative project”, he says. “All we had was a beat from Junior Taurus and an idea of the people we wanted to jump on the track. Riky Rick had a song that he had been working on for years called “Sho Boy”. As a matter of fact, Riky Rick played a major role in this Project!” he concludes.
