Before you knew who Yanga was, you’d heard his work. Today the 32 year old dropped his long awaited EP, “Becoming a Pop Star”.
Just over half an hour long, the Queenstown native is comfortable in his Xhosa heritage, and makes that a hallmark of the project. He has a few features; Makwa and AKA make the cut, but one of the most anticipated tracks on the EP features Boity, Dee Koala, and Riky Rick.
The Utatakho remix has Boity begin her verse with “Di kae di vuil popo tse? Ke le batla one by one”, and has Dee Koala turning the hook around stating “Nank’ umamakho”.
