Speaking publicly for the first time following the untimely passing of his fiancée, Anele Tembe, AKA released a statement through his team on Twitter today.
In the statement, the “Fela In Versace” hitmaker reveals how heartbroken he still is at the loss, expressing how much he still misses his fiancée and lamenting on the unfulfilled life he now faces without her.
He addresses, briefly, some of the unfounded rumours and utterances that quickly swirled around soon after Tembe’s death, saying:
“The tragic loss of Anele has taken a great toll on me emotionally and psychologically. Insinuations and innuendos made on my personhood have made it even more difficult to process, and the strain our families have taken is unspeakable. Which is why at this time I choose to retreat to honour my journey, praying that the moments of stillness may bring me closer to some clarity.”
Ultimately, he thanked everybody who has been supportive to him, mentioning his and Anele’s parents, his brother, the Forbes and Tembe families, as well as his business associates, political leaders, industry peers and elders, his friends and neighbours.
