Big Zulu’s “150 Bars” Diss Track Gets a Fire Response From K.O With “Omega Freestyle”

In one of the most bizarre drops this year, Big Zulu has released the freestyle “150 Bars”, a diss track taking aim at all of hip hop in SA. He begins the track with “Ayikhale, konakele ke manje,” before he lets rip into Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Stogie T, Emtee, Kwesta, K.O, and AKA.

He goes in with lines like, “Usese mncane Mufasa kimi, awuhlukile noSimba” and “Akekho ongang’ thinta ningangitsheli ngo Stogie T, iMercedes isentanyeni kodw’ ama Garage aEmtee.” He laments K.O giving him the runaround on a guest verse, saying, “Wena K.O uyiqhakaqhaka, ngakucela i-feature wangishayashaya/ Ngakugcina uthatha iz’ngane zeskole wawudume nge Caracara.

Delivering only 81 of the promised 150 bars, he ended the track saying, “Abafowethu, ooStogie T ngiyabahlonipha. Cassper ngiyamhlonipha. Bonke nje abafowethu ngiyabahlonipha. Ayikho into embi. Abafowethu ngiyabahlonipha ngomsebenzi asewenzile. Kodwa mangithi singakhala, ayikhale!” Translated, he says “Stogie T and the brothers, I respect them. Cassper, I respect him. All the brothers, I respect them. It’s nothing bad. I respect the brothers for the work they’ve done, but when I say we can go, lets go!”

This prompted AKA to say, “You can’t make a diss track then big everyone up at the end. That’s not Hip Hop.” He added, “There is no such thing as an Ubuntu diss track.” Correctly so. Emtee’s response was, “Chasing clout is the new “hip hop revival” yall be yapping about?” True to Cassper form, he took credit for the track on the low, retweeting fans who said, amongst others, “If it wasn’t that Ooh Arh verse from Cassper,i doubt we would have gotten these diss tracks.”

K.O, however, put his money where his mouth is and graced us with a response on wax. He released the “Omega Freestyle” this afternoon, with bars like, “With this catalogue, ngise lokshin’ nase North, there’s more to life than ukuperformer bomaBree naseNoord.” The flows are plentiful, the bars even more so. K.O also says, “iBack and forth is not gonna happen, it’s just a teachable moment. but if escalates, I’m up for the challenge.”

The “Omega Freestyle” comes off the back of his latest planned release, the single “SETE” off his upcoming SR3 album. After all the apologising at the end of “150 Bars” Big Zulu also let us know that he has a new track with Nasty C and Patoranking dropping soon. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if baiting the industry leading up to his new drop was worth it.
