ByLwansta has finally released the final instalment of his SPIJØNGET trilogy. The third instalment is called “SPIJØNGET (Chapter Three)” Love Story EP and details a love that has ended, with the rapper going through the motions of a break-up aftermath. Like its predecessors, Chapter Three is a four-track EP that is a part of a larger whole. All three chapters now make a 12-track full length LP.
The first instalment SPIJØNGET Chapter one was release in 2019. The focal point of that chapter was the rapper’s relationship with his girlfriend, from them spending time together and how they supported each other. 2020 saw the rapper release the second instalment SPIJØNGET Chapter Two, which was a continuation of the first one, focusing on similar subjects such as his relationship as well as the daily occurrences of his life.
Chapter Three carries on the tradition of the last two instalments, as ByLwansta’s signature first person narratives populate the project. His storytelling is riddled with tongue-in-cheek lines, packaged in an animated delivery. On “PRETTY STARS”, he interpolates the rhythm and lyrics in Eminem’s verse on D12’s “How Come”, rapping “You don’t need to talk no more/ But you didn’t have to lock that door/ (fine) I’m the one who locked that door (eish)/ But I don’t understand if you’re mad and if so, what for?/ Girl, I heard it through the grapevine we’ve been beefing now/ After all the years we’ve been down/ Ain’t no way, no how/ This bullshit can’t be true…”
ByLwansta continues to grow as a self-assured artist who gets more and more comfortable in his own skin. He is self-aware, as he maps out his plan in the game on “ESTBLSHD” and his wit and comic knack are still ever so present in the skits peppered throughout the short listen. The features making appearances include ThatoFeels, Alisha Rosa, Some.Unique.Individual and Rāms. The EP closes off with “ASMR”, the sultry cut that ByLwansta released as the project’s first single a few weeks back.
