Manu Worldstar’s Molimo; A preview

Manu Worldstar took to social media to announce that his debut album, Molimo, will be available for pre-order next Friday, the 26th June. We were given a chance to listen to four songs from the upcoming album, and can’t wait for you to get into them as well. They’ll be rolled out over the next few months as he prepares for the 12-track album drop on the 4th September, and the album features thus far include Rouge, Rowlene, Spacely, Sjava, and Roberto.

Since I last spoke to him in June 2019, losing his religion meant finding his spirit (molimo). Difficult to imagine him doing anything but the afro-fusion we’ve come to know him for, he was once a fully-fledged rapper but decided that the melodic fusion is what would best suit his ethos. With Molimo, he’s taken that to new heights.

“Choko” is a personal song, written when he was going through a tough time and will be the first song released next Friday. It’ll be followed up by the “Nalingi Remix,” which you’ll have to wait till July to get your hands on. The remix features Sjava, Zambian crooner Roberto, and Ghana’s Spacely. “Wonderlust” follows in August and features Rowlene. He finishes up the single drops with “Fire Emoji” in August and on it he features another artist of Congolese descent, Rouge.

The two compliment each other perfectly on the track, the perfect alchemy of talent and fun vibes to give us a single going into summer. More than elevating each other on the track, the preview that I’ve had into the album shows how Manu keeps elevating himself and his discipline. Keep your eye out for “Choko” next week, you’re not gonna wanna miss it!
