Nadia Nakai Roast Khanyi Mbau

Nadia Nakai and YoungstaCPT announced as panellists in roast of Khanyi Mbau

Khanyi Mbau is set to be the first African woman roasted in the popular Comedy Central format. Nadia Nakai and YoungstaCPT have been announced as panellists for the roast. The Roast of Khanyi Mbau is brought to us by Showmax and will be taking place this Thursday, the 21st July, at the Teatro at Montecasino and recorded as a live event.

Mpho Popps takes the stage as Roastmaster, and a number of celebrities join him as panellists for the occasion. Nadia Nakai, Sello Maake ka Ncube, Jon Vlismas and Sol Phenduka are the latest on the roster. YoungstaCPT, Tbo Touch, Celeste Ntuli, Devi Sankaree Govender, and Selbeyonce Mkhize round up the list.

Nadia Nakai said of the occasion, “Khanyi is my girl but I think it’s time she realises that only one of us is a young A-lister… and it isn’t her!” Celeste Ntuli also chimed in, saying, “Being on the Roast in the age of cancel culture feels like freedom for comedy again,” said Ntuli. “This Roast will be burning a fire just like a mbawula, or should I say like Mbau!”

Commenting on his return from retirement, John Vlismas said, “Khanyi is a friend and colleague. She’s also an aging socialite who won’t be able to stand under lights for much longer. I had to get back in the ring for this. Are you kidding me, the first woman of colour on earth to be roasted? I would have come back from the grave to take her down.”

The Comedy Central Roast of Khanyi Mbau is brought to us by Showmax and will be broadcast on both platforms. The Roast will broadcast at 9pm CAT on Monday, 8 August on Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122) and Showmax. Stream the uncensored and uncut version on Showmax from 15 August.
