Palesa will be letting go of an item she’s still attached to. “It’s a fabulous embellished knee-length skirt and I want to give it away because it no longer fits my personal style. I know someone else will have fun with it and create new memories.”
The Skip Fashion Exchange is the perfect time to let go of a vintage item, and say hello to another beautiful piece. Palesa knows exactly what to look for. “I’m into classic items so anything from the 50s and 60s era will be great. But who knows? I might walk in looking for a new pair of boots and find a fabulous dress instead!”
The Skip Fashion Exchange is a place to push your style limits. There’ll be many unique pieces in one space, which is the best way to revitalise your wardrobe. Palesa adds, “The one tip I have to keep your garments looking new for longer would obviously be: read the care tags! (That helps!) Like, if it tells you, “don’t put it in hot water” – don’t put it in hot water! And obviously, put in a bit of Skip and it keeps my fabulous garments looking new for way, way longer.”
HOW DOES THE SKIP FASHION EXCHANGE WORK?
- SELECT – Gather up the high street, premium or luxury clothing items in your closet that you no longer wear.
- REGISTER – It’s important that we have your details before you swap, so be sure to register online at skipfashionexchange.co.za or at the Skip Fashion Exchange pop up store in Sandton City Mall.
- RATE – Take your clean clothing and accessories to the Skip Fashion Exchange in Sandton City Mall, Johannesburg. Each garment will be evaluated and categorised as either ‘high street’, ‘premium’ or ‘luxury’. You’ll then receive the relevant tokens to use as store credit at the Skip Fashion Exchange.
- SWAP – Browse the Skip Fashion Exchange before swapping your tokens for a new favourite wardrobe item. The Skip Fashion Exchange is constantly updated, so you can hold onto your tokens and keep checking back in until you find something you love.
Join Palesa at the Skip Fashion Exchange at the Sandton City Mall, Johannesburg, from 4th -31st July 2017. The Skip Fashion Exchange offers clothes in three categories: High Street, Premium and Luxury. Participants can register their garments in advance at Skipfashionexchange.co.za or on the day at the Sandton City pop-up store. Skip Fashion Exchange staff will check each item and then facilitate equal value swaps
