Starting off as an attempt to prove a point – that South African hip hop is not dead – Yanga Chief organised an event that aimed to showcase South African hip hop in all its splendour. Aptly calling it “Famous Friends” the first edition of the event was held on the 4th of September in an intimate setting and the artist invited mostly his industry peers – including AKA, Kwesta, 25k etc. to join him on the day.
Proving to be quite a success, Yanga Chief is now gearing up for the 2nd edition of his event which is slated to take place on the 3rd of October 2021. The gist of the event is that it is entirely based on South African hip hop, meaning it will be a celebration of South African hip hop, by South African hip hop artists for the South African hip hop community.
This time around, the venue is Kramerville, Sandton, as the experience promises to be a memorable one, boasting a line-up that consists of a slew of both established and new artists.
