Going back over 40 years, Dakotas has a rich history in South Africa. The brand was born in 1980, with a range of moccasins, loafers, and sandals that was singular in its purpose; to provide genuine leather shoes for the discerning consumer that last a lifetime. They’ve become wardrobe staples; their boatshoes perfect for weekend escapades and moccasins that fit any occasion. Dakotas now expanded their brand with a new collaboration with famed SA designer Wanda Lephoto.
Wanda took to social media earlier today to announce the new venture. “As the first collaboration with Wanda Lephoto, the High Shine Mule is a classic staple design re-interpreted from the now classic High Shine Loafer, easy to wear mule made with genuine leather establishing a modern style to live alongside the heritage classics.”
Wanda has used Dakotas shoes in the styling of his collections previously, the Spring/Summer 22 and Fall/Winter 22 collections feature Dakota moccasins in both lookbooks. The collaboration seems a great fit for both brands with Dakotas’ first mule design added to their collection. Available in black, burgundy, and tan, the new Wanda Lephoto x Dakotas collab is set to launch on Tuesday, May 17th at 12PM @shelflifestore and in store.
