Young ‘n Lazy Invades Joburg with Nike’s Air Max 270

Creative Director and Founder of Young & Lazy, Anees Petersen, launched his new collection last night in Rosebank. The launch took place in the design district of Johannesburg and featured the new Nike Air Max 270.  Nike officially launched the Air Max 270 on 22 March ahead of Air Max day on 26 March.

This is the second show that Young & Lazy has had in Johannesburg and this collection boasted touches of Cape Town’s culture without trying to reinvent the wheel or focus on over the top silhouettes.

“I just wanted to create a desirable ready to wear collection that is simpler, clean and minimal but still makes an impact,” says Anees.

Anees also highlighted the importance of appreciating the support received from his buyers in Joburg.

“I have always been received well in Joburg even though I’ve never been able to focus on Joburg as much as I do on Cape Town. That has changed this year and I am hoping to create more of a presence here as there are a lot of younger guys that I feel I appeal to, and I think that it’s important to show that I appreciate them and their continuous support.”

The entire collection was accompanied with the new Air Max 270 – the first 100-percent lifestyle Air shoe — designed with the same rigor as sport performance shoes but for the demands of all-day wear.

Inspired by iconic Nike silhouettes from the early 1990s, the new shoe is named after its 270-degrees of visible air within the Air Max unit, and boasts key elements of both the Air Max 180 and the Air Max 93.

The 270 is considered to be a lifestyle shoe, with a convenient slip on construction and an eclectic mesh pattern on the upper.
