Lebron James owns a minority stake in Liverpool, 2% to be exact, and the football club has used every bit of the goodwill and visibility from that deal for PR purposes. He’s one of the biggest athletes in the world, it would be foolhardy not to. The latest venture is a Liverpool Air Max 1, set to release on the 4th March, to celebrate that relationship.
Nike has been the Liverpool kit supplier in a multiyear deal since the 2020/1 season and from that vantage point them coming together to maximise visibility for all three brands makes sense. An immediate takeaway from a first look at the shoe is that the colourway resembles those used on the team’s 2021/22 away kit. The retro feel, collared kit was a nod back to the 1996/7 season, an immediate hit with the fan base. The ecru, crimson and teal colourway on the shoe resembles those used on the team’s alternate jerseys.
Along with the team colours, the shoe is also branded with YNWA (You’ll Never Walk Alone) and SFG (Strive For Greatness) on the heel insignias. Likely to be a hit with the fanbase, the LeBron x Nike Air Max 1 “Liverpool” drops March 4 via Nike and select retailers. Check out pics of the collab below.
